Don't miss a single Animal Crossing: New Leaf event.

If you're new to the Animal Crossing series, you'll quickly discover that exciting new events are always being held in your town. Land the largest catch during all-day fishing tournaments that occur nearly every month, play innocent pranks on your neighbors during April Fool's Day, and even watch the starry night sky light up with colorful bursts from fireworks in August.

Every day in Animal Crossing: New Leaf is a new day. Never miss another event.

Hmm...why isn't Nintendo Nerds Week listed in July? Because it's a week-long event?

I love Animal Crossing Events. New Leaf is supposed to really go the extra mile and be more involved than just showing up on the day of the event. In the latest episode of Inside the Treehouse with Animal Crossing: New Leaf, Reiko Ninomiya said that we have to be extra diligent to enjoy events. She mentioned listening to your animal villagers excitement days before events happen to glean hints about how to fully enjoy the special day.

...but every day will be special with Animal Crossing: New Leaf.
Hopefully they have this calendar somewhere in the game. I always forgot to check the calendar for upcoming events.

I do not believe they have the calendar in the game however if you check the message board in town on a daily basis it will inform you of upcoming events.
This game looks very fun, and addicting.  I have never played anything from this series and am looking forward to trying it.
No Christmas? I loved celebrating Christmas in every prior Animal Crossing!

Notice also that there's no other holidays such as Easter, Thanksgiving, and a few others. Our world is becoming too political.

Technically, you can still celebrate Christmas in the game in your own way. Perhaps you'll invite friends to your town to exchange gifts! Toy Day will be pretty amazing, as all of the events and holidays are more involved and heightened in terms of game play. You'll see. I agree with Kevin, it's just a sign of the times. The holidays are there, but they're not.

This game takes an approach akin to many different Animal Crossing games in regard to events and holidays as talked about in episode 7 of Inside the Treehouse with Animal Crossing: New Leaf. It's a little confusing, but it sounds like they took that "global approach" (and ease of localization) from Wild World, yet improved the actual celebrations considerably.
