Light Blue And Gloss Pink 3DS Handhelds Head To Japan

By Kevin on Feb 26 2013 11:21 PM
If you think Japan is being spoiled with all the coolest 3DS designs, you're absolutely right. On March 20th, 2013, Japan will add two more colors to their 3DS lineup: Light Blue and Gloss Pink. Each system includes a 4GB Secure Digital (SD) card and retails for 15,000 Yen, which is approximately equivalent to $162.16 US Dollars.

After these two new colors release, Japan will have an array of eight beautiful 3DS hardware systems available in the following colors:
  • Light Blue
  • Gloss Pink
  • Cobalt Blue
  • Ice White
  • Misty Pink
  • Flare Red
  • Cosmo Black
  • Aqua Blue
Let's cross our fingers and hope that North America, Europe and Australia see a bright future in the coming months. Maybe?

I don't think we'll see the next Nintendo handheld until 2014 or maybe even later than that. And I know it's awful to see new colors of the 3DS and think, "But what's the next Nintendo handheld?" But that's what happens in my mind.

You do realize that there was probably a room full of people presented with possible colors for the next 3DS systems, right? And they chose these. Forget that there are already two other blue versions and one other pink version already. No. No, that wasn't enough. Let's have one more each, please.

What about green-fans? Where's our 3DS?

Year of Luigi and it better have a Luigi-themed 3DS. I want to see green, Nintendo. It's my favorite color. (Though I loved my white DS Lite and that's probably the ultimate goal is a white 3DS.)

Who am I kidding, I can't afford a new 3DS. I'll probably just buy a new battery and keep the ol' Cosmo Black forever.
Nice to see that Nintendo Japan is still supporting the original 3DS model. The more English language branches of video game companies have a bad habit of ditching the older models almost instantly upon a newer model coming out. I like that blue colour, though.
Those colors are really bright. I wonder how well the original model does in Japan in comparison to the XL?
Looks like Kevin has some more collecting to do!

That would be cool to have a Luigi themed 3DS, with maybe the L from his hat on the back.

Good Idea - I think you need it copyright though. I mean, Better than it being copied to other handhelds...

It's very likely that we'll see a green-colored 3DS this year. Also, does anyone remember E3 2011, where Nintendo showcased four new 3DS colors? It's true. They showcased orange, green, purple, and red. The purple and red-colored models have already been released. I'm not sure if we'll see a Luigi-themed 3DS this year (I really hope we do, though), but I have a great feeling that a green one will be unveiled during a future Nintendo Direct or perhaps even during E3 this year.

I think these new colors are nice. They add more variety and appeal to the lineup. I'm holding out for now though. I'm confident that North America will get their fair chance at a few really nice models. We just have to wait patiently. It's difficult to imagine that the 3DS has been in our lives for not even two years. Yet, it feels as though it's been around for much, much longer than that. Our patience, folks, will pay off.

Dude, this would be very nice! Great idea!
Yeah, I agree with you Kevin. I personally don't buy into new color systems, but if it's a really nice model I might make the change. The purple 3DS received a lot of praise from everyone. I looked up those four colors you mentioned and the green looks pretty nice! I could see green and orange being released at E3 or in a Nintendo Direct that follows, sure. They announced the 3DS XL that way.

I like the way you said that. It really does feel like it's been with us for ages. It's crazy because I know a handful of people that don't own one yet and they're waiting for Animal Crossing New Leaf or the stars to align or something to make that purchase. But it's such a great handheld and it's really changed the way I view gaming.

Remember when they used to make clear Game Boys and stuff? I wonder if they'd ever consider a clear 3DS?
Me myself - I think that Japan are spoilt with all the stuff coming out first - But anyway, they are mostly From Japan, aren't they?

Also - In Liverpool, UK, The Aqua Blue 3DS in the area of Aigburth is the most popular of all - everyone who has a 3DS has a blue one - I find that wierd.
i have seen so many case mods out of china and japan (had to use a few), so nintendo releasing new colors hardly makes since honestly.
it is nice to see that they are still supporting the original 3ds though.
At least it is the 3DS getting a new color and not an XL lol then I would say not fair because I love pink and that pink is smoking hot! However, I agree that it would be nice to see a green one (though my son would scream since he just got the red XL three days ago lol).

I have been to every store that sells 3DS systems/games in my town and I have to say, all the red 3DSXL's are sold out and almost all the purple and red 3DS's are sold out so I know what is popular where I live.
I like those colors. I have a blue 3DS XL but I just ordered a Hot Pink 3DS XL case from ebay the other day :)
Those are pretty!
Japan are getting A LITTLE Copyright now.

in my opinion.
