Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon Box Art Updated

By Kevin on Jan 11 2013 04:25 AM
Luigi who?! Yes, remember Mario's younger, more attractive brother? His upcoming, long-awaited title, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, has received some updated box art. Various revisions have been floating (like ghosts, perhaps) around the Internet. Most recently, as seen online at Amazon.com, the box art has received a well-tuned makeover as opposed to a previous version of box art which can be still found online at Target.com.

How many difference can you spot?

It looks like they've increase the colour intensity and they added the Boo across the top.

Can't wait for the game!!
I agree with Diaglyph, Boo and the color intensity are what I notice. It would be nice to get more info on this game. Come on Nintendo.
i thought it was coming out in feb?? Maybe my usually correct informant is incorrect this time.. which is fine i still have a few games to beat b4 i want to dive into luigis mansion..
Saturation!!!
Not too much of a change but I'll take it.
The color yes, but under the rating is the Online Interactions not rated statement. Does that mean DLC? Or some Online component? I don't remember them mentioning Online at all before. I can't wait for this game. 2013 is going to be a great year for 3DS.
Cool, The color is brighter, The Boo over the top, The rating change, And the wording under the rating.
I agree with Candy on the changes...I can't wait for this game to be released.
I've never played any of the other Luigi's Mansion games, but I'm excited for this one! I hear it's filled with a lot of puzzles and I like that because a true gentleman never says no to a puzzle.
I see what you did there, Pasta xD Either way, you haven't missed much; the only other Luigi's Mansion is the GameCube original. But you should definitely try and jump on that if you can.

Great catch, Dinky! According to the official ESRB website...

"Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB" - Warns those who intend to play the game online about possible exposure to chat (text, audio, video) or other types of user-generated content (e.g., maps, skins) that have not been considered in the ESRB rating assignment.

Knowing this, we might just see some kind of online multiplayer? Or...thinking a little further, and more likely the case, it's going to feature local multiplayer functionality. I say this because it also states that on boxes that have local multiplayer, as seen with New Super Mario Bros. U, for example. So, yeah...I'm feeling the latter on this.

Speaking on NSMBU, I'd say that the ESRB warning would be in reference to the built-in Miiverse functionality.

That does beg the question of what kind of online feature could be part of Dark Moon... StreetPass interactions, maybe? I'm not sure if that counts, though... *ponders for the rest of the night*

I'm bringing this up because I don't recall ever seeing that warning on games limited to local multiplayer, but I rarely get a good look at NA boxart, myself, so I can't really say for sure.

This.

I did some quick research and couldn't find the "Online Interactions Not Rated by the ESRB" statement printed on any of the boxes that I looked at. Good point, man. I'm really curious how this will work now.

We know for sure, that we'll see something related to:
  • StreetPass functionality
  • Online (multiplayer?) gameplay
Well I would love to see online multiplayer gameplay gee, even local just so my son and I can play together.  Streetpass would be wonderful too and spotpass if somehow that could work ;)

I wish they would give us a puzzle for this in the mii plaza...I know that sounds crazy, but I love those puzzles and their 3D look and this would be awesome for that!

Haha, I try. Well, I do have a GameCube, but I'm kind of strapped for cash. So I might have to pass on the original. I'll probably save most of my holiday cash for all the 3DS games I want this year.

I love the puzzles as well. I'll bet it's on its way. :) We haven't gotten a new puzzle in some time. With all the great games coming out this year, it's going to be a lot of puzzles for us put together.
I reckon they'll release a Fire Emblem puzzle for you guys, and probably Luigi's Mansion here in Aus, as I think Luigi's Mansion is coming here before you guys get it (where you get Fire Emblem first in Feb, we get it April).

Can't wait for Luigi!! :D

I would suggest for those who haven't played the first one, look up a full play through on youtube. It should at least give you an idea what to expect. Though of course the 3DS will likely mix things up a little.

The layout of those pages is so fun. The team in charge of layouts is like, "Wherever we can put some text, put some text."

Luigi is really brave, when you think about it. Although he's clearly terrified, he's going in there and he's doing his thing. It's inspiring. But if he teamed up with Kirby and Yoshi, he could potentially get a lot more done. Though it could backfire and Kirby could become a ghost and Yoshi could have trouble eating helmets or something, maybe.

I leave you with this rhetorical question, "How was Luigi able to afford a mansion when Mario gets more work?" We must also consider alliteration.
LOL
Well actually Luigi "won" the mansion in the first game.
Not quite sure of the full story in this one.
