According to the newly-launched teaser website for Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, a brand-new local multiplayer mode has been confirmed. It is currently unknown if two game cards will be required in order to play locally with friends. Also, the website confirms that Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon will be a single-player, action-adventure game.

Official Website said:

Join Luigi as he stumbles and bumbles through haunted mansions, solving mind-melting puzzles and vacuuming up ghosts left and right with the help of Professor E. Gadd and an array of gadgets.

Each mansion is filled with unique puzzles, a wide range of different ghosts, and a menacing boss battle. You'll need to use your head and the Poltergust 5000, a ghost-catching vacuum cleaner, to clean up the mansions and save the day.

With so many new places to explore, all new ways to capture ghosts, and a brand new local multiplayer mode, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon is another star turn for Mario's heroic brother—and it's only on Nintendo 3DS.

We'll be on the lookout for when the Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon website gets updated with more information.

even local multiplayer will be cool. I just hope we only need one game card.  I really can't wait to play thisI just hope it's as fun as it looks and sounds. When I read in gameinformer that it was single player I have to say I was incredibly disapointed, but to read here that there will be a local multiplayer brightens my morning...thanks Kevin for this great news...
Local multiplayer! That is awesome. What a nice addition to the game. 3DS could use more and more multiplayer games.
Yes multiplayer ftw! I always love co-op games! Battling against friends is cool too...
