A new firmware update, version 5.0.0-11U, is now available for your Nintendo 3DS. If the system does not prompt you automatically, you can download and install the new firmware update by clicking on the "System Settings" icon from the home screen of your 3DS. Once inside the System Settings menu, click on "Other Settings," then scroll to the 4th menu and click on "System Update."

Additionally, the Japanese and European regions also received the update, named version 5.0.0-11J and version 5.0.0-11E, respectively.

According to Nintendo of America's website, a description for the 5.0.0-11U System and Feature update reads as follows:

Nintendo eShop improvements
  • Users will no longer need to close the Nintendo eShop application to ensure the "Download Later" feature works while the Nintendo 3DS is in Sleep Mode.
  • Other improvements to usability have been made, including the ability to download software update data in the background.
Improvements to system stability and usability
  • Further improvements to overall system stability and other minor adjustments have been made to enhance the user experience.
    • System menu versions 5.0.0-0U through 5.0.0-10U do not include these improvements.
    • The following, which were included within previous system updates, are not included with system menu versions 5.0.0-0U through 5.0.0-4U:
      • New features for the Nintendo 3DS Camera
      • New content for StreetPass Mii Plaza
      • System Transfer between two Nintendo 3DS systems
    • The following, which were included within previous system updates, are not included with system menu versions 5.0.0-0U through 5.0.0-1U:
      • Addition of Internet Browser
      • Addition of Nintendo eShop
      • System Transfer from a Nintendo DSi or Nintendo DSi XL system

Thank you for the heads up! I wish they would have one that would help fix my internet connection issues.. :(
Any chance Miiverse 3DS is tucked away deep in this update? :-)

What's wrong with your connection?

No. Not yet. ;)
I am psyched for it!

This update seems to be all about eShop, which seems really fast after the update.

I can connect to the internet, but it only stays for a few seconds to a few minutes if I am lucky on my 3DS.. if I want to do anything I keep having to restart it, its pretty frustrating.. I turned down a setting on my router from like 145 to 50something, it helps a little bit but now my wireless is slow. Its a little better now but still not the best..
I can be sitting 2 feet or less from my router and have from 1 bar to none.

have you contacted Nintendo Support (1-800-255-3700)?

Not yet, I have pretty much been googling connection issues and trying everything that I can find.. I'm pretty shy (and weird!) I only will call someone with support if its a last resort.. *silly*

At first I thought it was my 3DS.. so I exchanged it, didn't help. :o...

Maybe I should get over my weirdness and call them tomorrow..

I'm 99% sure it's your router configuration. Have a look at this article from Nintendo's support section of their website. If you still can't get it working, I'd definitely call them. You'd have it fixed by now. ;)

How To: Internet Connection
I just updated my 3DS XL to the new update and I haven't yet noticed any differences except in the Internet Browser. We now have a spin wheel type thingy where the steps counter would be on the Main page, and a progress bar under it, in addition, the "scroll bar" has moved to the top screen.
I got my update on this morning!

Still fumbling around trying to resolve your connection issue? :P
