Last week, on December 20th, New Super Mario Bros. 2 received its final two doses of Downloadable Content (DLC). While Nintendo have no plans of delivering future coin-packed New Super Mario Bros. 2 DLC, fans worldwide continue to push the global coin counter to its limits.

As a matter of fact, the New Super Mario Bros. 2 global coin counter has now reached over 400 billion coins. The global coin counter is a measure of how many coins have been collected by fans worldwide. Coin counts for fans in the North American, European and Japanese region are combined, displayed on each of the aforementioned region's websites and updated in real time. That's one heck of a lot of loot. You might be asking yourself how long it has taken to get to this point. Fortunately, we've been tracking the global coin count from the very beginning. If the current coin collection rate is maintained, we could very well see one trillion coins by July of 2013.

I don't see the current rate being maintained, but a trillion is absolutely a possibility at this point.

If it doesn't happen by July, it'll happen at some point in 2013.
This is pretty cool. Though I wonder if there is much of a point anymore? I say that because they announced the final wave of DLC for the game already.
I feel the numbers are gonna jump more because more ppl will be getting the game for xmas.. OR either drop or stay the same cus ppl will be playing other games/ get tired of this one...
I saw so many parents and grandparents buying this game for Christmas I see it possible to reach by July...
