Just a little while ago, we made an announcement about a last minute Japanese Nintendo Direct that was taking place. Not much was known about it, but we did know that the 3DS would be the highlight of the coverage. The Japanese Nintendo Direct was approximately six and a half minutes long and it covered three DLC (Downloadable Content) packs for New Super Mario Bros. 2.
  • Pack 1: Go! Go! Gold Mario Pack - consists of 3 courses, up to 30,000 coins
  • Pack 2: Challenge the Record Pack - top worldwide scores challenge
  • Pack 3: Survival Panic Pack - for experts only. DLC packs are not random, but fixed 3 stages each
Other information passed during the coverage:
  • DLC will be accessible from the "Shop" button underneath the Coin Rush mode menu. This won't appear however, until SpotPass is read.
  • DLC course designs were based off of Club Nintendo survey responses
  • DLC packs to be released in the Japanese region on October 2nd, 2012, costing 200 Yen each.
  • The SpotPass message to activate the Shop button will arrive by at some point on October 2nd, 2012.
  • Additional DLC packs will be released toward the end of October and November of 2012.
  • Additional information regarding DLC will be posted on the official Nintendo website.

The official Japanese Nintendo Direct can be watched on Nintendo of Japan's website at:

That is awesome. Finally some DLC. I am curious about the Go Go level since it seems like there is a high coin total possible.
This is exciting.

I'll d/l the 1st two, idk bout the crazy hard expert ninjamaster Mario level.. I mean I'm the guy who believed "Jump in the ditch and you'll get a 1up" from my siblings at a young age. I love the games in this series but I die ALOT. hahaha for real though

Yeah the expert one is not for me either. No way Jose. I want to enjoy my game, not attempt to demolish it out of anger.
