Ninfia (Eevee Evolution) Confirmed For Pokémon X And Pokémon Y

By Kevin on Feb 11 2013 11:26 PM
Let's hear it for our newest Eevee evolution Pokémon, Ninfia!

Ninfia (ニンフィア) is the newest confirmed Pokémon for Pokémon X and Pokémon Y. It was revealed in the March edition of the monthly Japanese publication CoroCoro Comic. Its type and gender are still unknown but it is confirmed to be an evolution of Eevee. The English name is currently unknown as well but we will be on the look out for it and provide updates immediately.

Glaceon and Leafeon have the Japanese names Glacia and Leafia, respectively. Can this imply that the English name of this newest Eeveelution Pokémon will be Ninfeon, or something similar?

Something interesting...

The word ninfea, in Italian, means water lily. Although it's not spelled the same as the Japanese name when translated, it's very similar. Coincidence? Maybe a dual-type Eevee evolution will be introduced this time around?

Perhaps:
  • Ground-Water
  • Flying-Water
  • Poison-Water

  • Japanese Name: ニンフィア (Ninfia)
  • Height: 1.0m (3.28 feet)
  • Weight: 23.5kg (51.80 pounds)

I love all of the eeveelutions, I think they're adorable. I'm really interested in what type Ninfia will be, though! :D
I'm not sure, but it sure looks like a four-legged Victini!

Maybe it could be a Poison-type evolution. o.O
nice I <3 evee's

I was thinking the same thing. It really does look like Victini. I kind of think it may be a normal type. The ribbons are pretty. I would like to see more of this Pokemon in action etc.

Also, based on a discussion I read on Twitter. They are assuming the Japanese name comes from the word Nymph. If so the assumption is that this is a flying type, because in greek mythology nymphs are wingless fairies.

I would be very happy about this especially knowing that all Eevee evolutions are single type and not dual. Meaning this could be the second pure flying type in Pokemon aside from Tornadus!
I love this design! I think there's a possibility it might be a flying type, cause to me it kinda looks like Skyla, or maybe a bug type. It'll probably be a normal type evo, and dash all my hopes and dreams.
*nods head* i feel it'll either be normal or flying (if it ends up being a dragon type i'll do a backflip! i mean, can u imagine seeing this thing use outrage!?) it has eyes similar to audino and a tail like cincinno.. and its coloration really makes me lean towards normal.. but i feel like it should be flying i mean its similarity to skyla is crazy.. it's super exciting to see this new evolution.. i wonder what other older pkmn they will alter... mwahahahahahahahhaa
While I'm not to keen on the eyes (they look a little vacant to me) I do love the design and name for this evolution. Ninfia sounds so nice and if they do change the English name I'll probably just nickname it Ninfia. I do think it may be a flying type though the long ribbon like parts look as if they're floating to me. ^_^

I was thinking that it looked a little like Victini as well, lol.

Then could the english name possibly be Nympheon? A flying type eeveelution would be neat. :P
Now I was hoping for two Eevee evolutions so I hope there is another one out there that is yet to be discovered. If this is indeed flying, which I hope it is, then the next I want is steel. We really do not have many pure steel. Mawile, Klink, Klang, KlinKlang and Registeel currently.
This looks like the outcome of Eevee and Skitty mating. I hope there are more eevelutions to be found.
Dang. This article has received more Facebook Likes (currently 258) than all other articles combined. It's nice to see that the world is slowly beginning to take our Pokémon-related content seriously. Pokémon is definitely our most-popular type of content here.

I don't see how Ninfia could possibly fly, so my money's on it being Normal-type.

But Shaymin can fly.
Nope. A dual type would be blasphemy.

Why?

Because there's never been a dual-type Eevee evolution? Do you think all current types have to be occupied by Eevee evolutions, before even considering that a dual-type would be incredible?

I'm intrigued. Please, tell me. I'll wait patiently.

I could be wrong, but my idea of a normal type eeveelution is that it'd just look like a bigger, slightly different variation of what eevee already looks like. The color of the eeveelutions matches their typing, and judging by the way Ninfia looks, it says more to me than "normal".

I don't see how it could fly, either, but its ribbons look sort of like kite streamers, which make me think that it could possibly be a flying type.
The ribbon-thingies are also really sparkly! At least in this official art they are.

...that doesn't really mean anything, I guess. Sparkles!

Sparkles are always good, and wow they all look so adorable and happy in that picture. :D

Except for Umbreon who looks like "Why am I here?" and Glaceon with that wink, lol. Still...very cute!
So awesome 0_0

Yes. Exactly. Eevee is a normal type. Every Eevee evolution to date has been a pure type. Fire, Electric, Water, Psychic, Dark, Grass and Ice. With plenty of other types unused it would make no sense to start adding dual types to its evolution. I think it would take away from its charm. Also, some of the Pokemon types have a very minimal amount of pure Pokemon. The best example I can give (to which we discussed) is flying. The only Pokemon to date that is pure flying is Tornadus. There are also only 5 pure steel Pokemon to date. So if we get two new Eevee evolutions this generation I am hoping for steel.

I'm wondering why the three of you think the new evolution of Eevee will be Normal-typed. Eevee itself is a Normal-type so why would its evolution ever be a Normal-typed Pokémon?

The last type I'd ever expect to see is a Normal-type.
Agreed. I just can't see Ninfia being Normal, simply because Eevee already has that base covered. If you want a Normal type member of the Eevee family... just don't evolve Eevee. Like that guy who has the "Pokemon Rescue Squad" in Best Wishes! Season 2. Personally, my reasoning may be silly, but I just can't shake my desire for it to be a flying type.
hmm.. i considered the dual type eevee agrument.. but if dodrio, genesect, and kyurem can fly with little to no wings (dont forget the flying form of shaymin though idt if can learn fly in the game like these guys) then i wont be suprised if this new eevee ends up to be flying type.. dual or not...

I'll never forget this guy that was like "i hope its (ninfia) is a fire fighting type" in the middle of an argument about ninfia's type.. i found it so funny because so many ppl are crossing their fingers that fennekin doesnt end up being a fire fighting type that it made that argument explode into rage!
