Nintendo Releases 3DS Image Posting Tool

Share your in-game 3DS images with Twitter and Tumblr!

Nintendo of Japan have just released a brand new social tool for the Nintendo 3DS. The "Nintendo 3DS image posting tool" allows owners of Animal Crossing: New Leaf (とびだせ どうぶつの森 Tobidase Dōbutsu no Mori in Japan) and Tomodachi Collection New Life (トモダチコレクション 新生活 in Japan) to instantly upload in-game images to Social Networking Services (SNS) Twitter and Tumblr.

The tool can be initiated by scanning a special QR (Quick Response) Code from the official Nintendo Japan website or by accessing the 3DS Internet browser. Four simple steps will get you on your way to sharing images with Twitterverse and Tumblr. Also, if you notice in step #4, Twitter Hashtags (e.g., #とびだせ どうぶつの森 and #AnimalCrossing) are automatically generated from the tool, which makes it even easier for others to find your photos.

It's only a matter of time before North America and Europe are joining in on the photo-sharing fun. With Miiverse already established for Wii U and Miiverse for 3DS looming on the distant horizon, this new social media tool is a sure-fire way to expand Nintendo's presence around the world. Literally.

This is exciting! Big things are coming, Woooo!
Very exciting!
This could be interesting, we will just wait and see.  It is nice to see them adding features like this.  Before too long our 3DS will double over as a phone as well... haha
It would be nice for this app to come to the North America simultaneously when Animal Crossing New Leaf releases. I would be wonderful to share those great moments at the beginning of the game with friends. :)
This is pretty cool :D Now I just wish they'd do this with other titles :3
This was kind of that last bridge that needed to be built for Nintendo, it's really essential to make sharing the screen-caps from games like Animal Crossing New Leaf as easy as possible. It's not hard to remove the SD card and copy and paste the photos onto one's computer, but this eliminates that step and as others are saying, it's a sign of great things to come.

As Nintendo said, they want to use the internet and smart phones to their advantage. Their games will be on their systems, but the content will be everywhere. It's very forward-thinking.

I'm not sure that we'll get Tomodachi Collection New Life in the rest of the world, but I'm sure Nintendo is cooking up other games that will take advantage of these sharing (and free marketing) features. Pokémon X/Y perhaps?
I especially like how they are auto-generating twitter hashtags! They do that in Nintendo TVii too, but I don't believe they create specific hashtags based on the content, they just stamp a generic #NintendoTVii tag on end. Good to see Nintendo expanding to allowing posts to outside services.

Now if they would open that feature up in Miiverse, so we can forward and cross-post items to Twitter there too!
