Look! A Special Pikachu Edition 3DS XL appears. And it's for North America!

Hello, Pokémon fans of North America! The time has finally come when a new 3DS XL model is added to our ever-so-deprived lineup. This time, it's not just a colored model, though. It's much more electrifying than that.

On Sunday, March 24th — the same day that Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity is released — you can purchase this Special Pikachu Edition 3DS XL from participating Walmart, Target, Toys R Us, and GameStop stores for a suggested retail price of $199.99. It also comes with a 4GB Secure Digital (SD) card. We'll be publishing an article announcing pre-order details very soon. Let's be honest. Who thought North America, with its severely lacking XL lineup, would ever see this model? I'm sure many of the fans reading this news are completely shocked. There is some simple logic to the madness, however.

Japan received it. Europe received it. Heck, even Chile, South America received it! But, that's another story. Technically, for those who didn't believe that the Special Pikachu Edition 3DS XL would make it stateside could have purchased it from South America since they have the exact same Nintendo hardware as the rest of the "Americas."

Fun Fact: The "Americas," as far as Nintendo hardware and software are concerned, consists of the United States of America, Canada, Mexico and South America.

For those of you who waited, and had faith, your patience has finally paid off. In fact, it almost feels as if this Special Pikachu Edition 3DS XL should be a shiny Special Pikachu Edition 3DS XL. This announcement was inevitable. Based on the other regions that received this model, this North American confirmation was almost prophetic. It's almost as if Pokémon is slowly taking over the world.

The Special Pikachu Edition 3DS XL is the first "themed" model for the XL series. The other models currently available are Red, Blue, and Pink White. What will Nintendo of America announce for its next XL model? Will we, perhaps, receive a plain white or black model? Please, Nintendo? Your fans really want those color options.

Stay tuned for more exciting Pokémon news this later this month.

It does look pretty slick. I really like the yellow and white combination.

It does look cool, but I can't help but think yellow and black would be better.  Especially, since black is used a lot in the design on the outside.
