Brownie Brown will taste great in the future.

Brownie Brown Inc. (株式会社ブラウニー・ブラウン), a Tokyo-based video game development company and Nintendo subsidiary, recently announced their future plans. Effective today, they've changed their company name to 1-UP Studio, Inc. and will be terminating their current website next month on March 31st.

Under their new title, they plan to shift focus by working closer with game developers to deliver more software.

Brownie Brown is responsible for the partial or full development of some pretty impressive Nintendo software. The recent news can only mean one thing: great titles for fans.

I don't know Brownie Brown that well, but I know they've earned their place in the hearts of RPG fans with Mother 3. However I've never played Mother 3, so.

The closest I've gotten to Brownie Brown is their work on the London Life RPG that was packaged within Professor Layton and the Last Specter. Though in the European version of the game, they removed London Life.

It will be interesting to see what 1-Up Studio brings us in the future. Though I find the name-change puzzling — and not in the gentlemanly appreciative way.

I liked the name Brownie Brown because it's cute and Brownies are little faery-folk.
I like the new name more. I found Brownie Brown a weird name hehe
The 1-UP Studio name now seems more Nintendo-like :)

Maybe 1-UP Studio symbolizes a second life, a second chance. Which is kind of beautiful, I admit.
My myself, agree with Diaglyth, the old name was kind of weird. And it does make the company more Nintendo like XD What Pasta also said could be very true, 1-Up meaning 2nd life :P

I don't recall ever playing their games, though. The only game I see on the current list that I actually have heard of, is the Super Mario 3D Land. How popular is this company?

Not very popular (as in well-known), or rather not as popular as they are now post-name change. They are well-liked for what they have made, though. We'll see the name 1-UP Studio, Inc. attached to future games. Nintendo needs more help with game development for the Wii U because it's in HD with better graphics. That's my guess, at least. Though who can say what 1-UP is equipped to handle?
