Surprise! The secret project from Retro Studios is Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.

With Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D being released for the 3DS not even three full weeks ago, it's hard to believe that the newest installment into the Donkey Kong Country series is none other than Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, for the Wii U. Some might even be calling that "bananas," or a "barrel of laughs." The truth is, it's a pretty brilliant decision.

I know what you're thinking, though. "Why didn't Retro Studios develop a new Metroid title?" Well, don't worry about that!

In Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, villainous vikings have overrun Donkey Kong Island. It's up to you and another optional simultaneous player — choose between Dixie Kong or Diddy Kong — to travel to five other islands to rid the viking marauders from your land. Both Dixie and Diddy Kong each have their own unique style of gameplay, which will add to the gameplay experience.

Additionally, various new camera angles will give players a new and exciting gameplay perspective. Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is scheduled to be released at some point this November.

I really enjoyed Dixie in the original DKC. I am glad that she is back.
I was never really into the Donkey Kong games. ^^; But my older sister loved them and I remember taking the controller a few times to help with certain levels.

I love the character designs of the Viking-like characters! Vikings are so "in" right now. XD
Glad we get a new DK game. Must say i am kinda bummed it wasnt a new entry into the metroid series though.
Having played them all since the beginning, I look forward to this next entry in the series. I would like to see the kremlings make a return soon, though! HD remake of the original Donkey Kong Country? Also, I want Donkey Kong 64 on the Wii U e-shop!
I am LOVIN' this! The trailer totally made my hair stand on end! And I LOVE that Dixie Kong is back in action! She's always been my favorite, whoopin' serious kremlin butt with that long, glorious pony tail! I was so disappointed not to see her in Donkey Kong Country Returns. But I guess I will forgive Nintendo now.

Yes. I must have this game. And I shall beat it with Dixie Kong!

Now excuse me while I go tend to my banana hoard.
I can't wait to play this game!
