Friend Requests Expire After 30 Days

By Kevin on Nov 25 2012 01:05 AM
With a scrawny maximum limit of only 100 Wii U friends, it's not stopping you from requesting digital friendship with other Wii U owners all over the world. Unlike the 3DS friend system, there is one new aspect that Nintendo incorporated with their fresh Wii U friend system. For the sake of comparison, the 3DS friend request system functioned a bit differently.

Whenever you added a new friend to your 3DS Friend List, that person was provisionally registered as a friend. This was great, in the sense that it required both people to add each other's 3DS Friend Code in order to tie that knot. It didn't matter if some random person added you because it required a mutual action. The provisional status, however, was indefinitely set until the other person added the requesting Friend Code.

With the Wii U Friend Code system, the provisional assignment of friends remains intact, with one small change. If you have requested friendship with another Wii U owner, it will remain in a provisional status for a maximum of 30 days. This is handy for those wondering how long it has been since they requested a friendship, and also provides a great way to keep tabs on expiring requests before nudging your future friend with a Miiverse note.

I just created a topic for Wii U Friend Codes, please use that.

That's awesome! The addition of time limit is perfect.  They did a good job with this.
Good Stuff. It is very clear that Nintendo has put extra thought and effort into Nintendo Network. I am excited to see it develop further as time moves by.
What I wish they would do is make it so you could request a friend, that person gets a notification you can accept or decline and if you accept it automatically registers them as your friend so you don't have to input the information as well. Also a 100 max is just too limited. I don't know why they have to cap it.

That is how it works with Wii U.
Cool! So I can add random Wii U owners across the world too?
