LEGO City: Undercover Mysteriously Drops To $49.99 In Wii U eShop

Uh oh! It looks like Chase McCain needs to start an investigation!

Literally just hours ago, we published an article that showed you the real download size for LEGO City: Undercover. Various reporting sources assumed that LEGO City: Undercover was a massive 22GB download and required an external hard drive. Those claims, still all unconfirmed from Nintendo, stemmed from a typo on the official LEGO City: Undercover website. LEGO City: Undercover is, in reality, a 19GB digital download. OK, here's the real reason why we're here.

In that same article we published, we took a picture of the download size, as displayed in the Wii U eShop. Along with the download size, our camera also captured another important piece of valuable information: LEGO City: Undercover's $59.99 price tag. Moments ago, that virtual $59.99 price tag has been stealthily slashed to $49.99, the same price that you can expect to pay at the checkout for local or online retailers.

Will consumers who already downloaded LEGO City: Undercover for its original price of $59.99 will get a $10 credit. This was obviously a mistake with Wii U eShop pricing.

I purchased the game at midnight for my son, when the price was $59.99. I just received an email from Nintendo telling me the game was accidentally mis-priced, was meant to be $49.99, and would be receiving a refund for $12 (price difference + tax paid). I'm happy with that.
With Chase McCain on the case, consider it SOLVED! OR judging by some of the trailers, FUBAR!!!

But good to see Nintendo all over that refund, less than 24hrs from the mistake.
Well Amazon has updated my shipping info and said I should receive the game April 22nd. Sucks but I can wait. I was watching Let's Play! videos and the game looks really fun and more humorous than I thought it would be

Hello, MJFranklin. Would you be so kind as to post the email they sent you? Thanks for the info.

No problem. I attached it as a file.

And here's the quoted text from inside the email -

"Hello,

Thank you for your recent purchase and download of LEGO® City Undercover for Wii U from the Nintendo eShop. Due to a data-entry error, the price of this game was initially set at $59.99. We intended to set the price at $49.99 and have made the correction in the Nintendo eShop. We are taking steps to quickly refund you the difference. You will receive a $12 refund applied either to your credit card or to your account in the Nintendo eShop, depending on your form of payment. This amount covers the difference in price as well as any applicable taxes. We apologize for this inconvenience.

This refund will be processed in the next 24 hours. If you paid from a balance in your Nintendo eShop account, your credit will appear within 24 hours. If your payment method was credit card, it may take up to two billing cycles to appear on your statement. We thank you for your patience. Enjoy your game!

Thank you,
Nintendo of America Inc."

P.S. My kids are LOVING the game so far!
