Miiverse Photo Attachment Option Proof Positive

You're ruining a good thing, Nintendo. What are you doing?

I'd like to preface this short article by stating that this isn't a rant. It's far from it. What I will say is that I have a genuine concern for the future of Nintendo's social networking strategy, and wholeheartedly speak on behalf of all Nintendo fans who are opposed to witnessing Miiverse, as we know it, fall victim to a social networking popularity contest. The future of Miiverse is looking gloom, folks. If Miiverse had its own stock, you can bet your bottom dollar that I would have already liquidated all of its assets from my portfolio.

Recently, an announcement was made by Tom; our Nintendo Miiverse friend. He's the fella responsible for delivering all the news whenever Miiverse updates come down the pipe (no pun intended of course). Yesterday, Tom posted a new message to the special Nintendo @ E3 Miiverse Community, stating that he was "on the same flight with Reggie" as he approached the landing strip of the Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). He was headed to the E3 2013 event, along with Reggie and the rest of the Nintendo gang.

Tom's Miiverse message didn't send the same signal as his previous messages, though. This time, it had an image attached to it. Strange as it may seem, this was no screenshot from within a game — it was an image that Tom captured while peering through the window of his window seat, as he stared down the plane's long and shiny right wing.

Here's Tom's full Miiverse message:

By the way the photo attachment option is still in its test
phase so it isn't available to everyone.

Be landing in LA soon.

So, what's you take on this? Is having the ability to instantly post images taken from smart phone devices and tablets a good idea? Will this new, imminent feature provide a more positive and enjoyable experience for the user?

In this case the picture is of no value.. We have plenty of places to post nonsense pictures already. Let's keep this more to the point. I would prefer that.
Yes, I saw this as well and was immediately concerned. I hope Nintendo is smart enough not to allow photo's other than screen shots to be uploaded to Miiverse. This would be just another thing Nintendo would have to monitor. Currently, official Nintendo folks can embed URL's, YouTube videos and now pictures. This is fine as long as they are the only folks within Miiverse with that ability.
Nintendo already has a place to share photos called Nintendo 3DS Photo Showcase and it's pretty awful. At the very least, one could call it mediocre.

Social media is still young, but Nintendo is wise and with a strong editing hand, they created Miiverse with this Nintendo-centric idea. They created an ideal community for gamers of all ages. I do sincerely hope that they aren't going to cheapen it by allowing members to post all nilly-willy. There was something nice about a strict space. (Strictness is also why I love Nintendo Nerds.)

"Test phase" could mean that it's not going to make it to the public, but I worry as well that Nintendo is feeling the pressure to make the Wii U and Miiverse like everything else. They don't realize that it's all people talk about when they first get a Wii U! So they don't need a photo option. Miiverse isn't broken. They need to give it time.
