New ways to play and share your Mario fun

New Super Mario Bros. U is a new, side-scrolling adventure game featuring Mario™, Luigi™, Toad™ … and your Mii™ character! Explore new worlds, new power-ups and new ways to play with up to five players*, as four people use Wii Remote™ controllers and one enjoys a new way to play with the Wii U GamePad controller. You can even switch single-player gameplay from the TV to the GamePad at any time to continue playing even when others are using the TV.

Transform into Flying Squirrel Mario, or float through the air with Balloon Baby Yoshi. Discover all new game modes like Boost Rush Mode, where you work with others to clear courses in the fastest time possible. Show that you're a true platforming pro in Challenge Mode, putting your Super Mario gameplay skills to the test.

Awesomeness.
This is definitely awesome. I was very surprised that Nintendo would want to put out their core franchises on anything less than 1080p HD. I mean with their new console they need to "come out of the gate swinging".

New Super Mario Bros. U will be playable in 720p, not 1080p like Nintendo originally stated on the official NSMBU website.
