Our Steamy Interview With Adult Entertainment Service, SugarDVD

Yesterday, we published an article titled Streaming Porn Coming To Wii U. Within thirty minutes, the article received a significant amount of traffic as curious fingers plunged down on the mouse button. Perhaps this was because it's not ordinary to find the word porn coupled in the same sentence as Nintendo's newest home console; Wii U. To many, it may have even seemed like a typo. The truth is, it's real, and it's coming soon to your Wii U.

Sure, Nintendo have expanded its labeled audience of "casual gamers" to "hardcore" with strong third-party support, but just how hardcore are we talking about here? Is hardcore limited to mature-rated video game software or something else? We recently took the opportunity to speak to SugarDVD's (the "Netflix" for porn) Rebecca, in an effort to gain more insight on their upcoming web-based adult pornography service for Wii U.

NintendoNerds: Good afternoon, Rebecca. Thank you for taking the time today to conduct this short interview.
Rebecca: Sure, thanks for having me.

NintendoNerds: The biggest concern Nintendo fans have so far is that Nintendo won't allow a pornography application to be distributed for Wii U. Can you please elaborate on this and shed a bit more light on how exactly this will work?
Rebecca: Our Wii U app will work like our PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 apps; meaning, it’ll be a separate app that is launched through the Browser. The app itself is not initialized through the Browser, though, thankfully! Subscribers use the in-console Browser to log into their account on SugarDVD.com (NSFW). A button will then pop up, which will allow users to launch the app and start streaming instantly. We have formatted our apps this way so we can do what we want, without having to go directly through Nintendo, Sony or any other company. Also, subscribers don’t have to deal with any discs or downloads.

NintendoNerds: When can Nintendo fans expect to stream porn to their Wii U systems?
Rebecca: The Wii U app is almost ready to go! We’re just finishing up the interface right now, so Wii U fans can expect the app to be available in about two weeks at the most.

NintendoNerds: Will the cost be the same as it is for other platforms; $7.95 per month?
Rebecca: Yes. For $7.95/month, subscribers get unlimited access on any device.

NintendoNerds: What range of pornography will be available for viewing?
Rebecca: In the app, there are several categories subscribers can choose from. We have everything from Girl/Girl, Amateur, College, Asian, Couples, and more. We’re adding new titles from top studios every day, so we also have the Newly Added category.

NintendoNerds: Will any of the content be available in high-definition?
Rebecca: Yes. All of our unlimited TV streaming content is hosted by the same content distribution network, which is used by Netflix and Hulu! While websites claim they have support for consoles, they have only made online content available on TV. But, when you stream online content to a TV, it becomes grainy and slow. That’s not us. We are a separate app with Netflix or Hulu-quality streaming of TV content. No grain, no long buffering, and no ads. Just unlimited, high-definition, full-length adult movies.

NintendoNerds: Have Nintendo been receptive regarding the SugarDVD service?
Rebecca: We actually haven’t heard a peep out of Nintendo! Although, the gaming community itself has always been receptive of us. We’ve hosted successful parties at gaming events like E3 and PAX, and we’ve always been well-received.

NintendoNerds: Well-received? That sounds like...oh never mind! (laughs)
Rebecca: (laughs)

NintendoNerds: Will there be any promotional offers, such as trials?
Rebecca: Right now, we have a 10-day FREE trial for anyone who wants to try out the app on other devices, such as Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, iPad, Android, and more. We will have a 10-day free trial for the Wii U app once we release it.

Thanks to Rebecca for taking to the time to find out more about their service!

I guess you could say that we're no longer virgins when it comes to interviews. "It was our first time."
It's interesting to me that this business model is even possible, y'know? I'm a bit surprised that the consoles haven't tried to block the site/app/service somehow. I'm equally surprised that I've never heard of anything like this, an app accessible on a console that isn't "approved" in any way. It's impressive, really it is.

I like to keep my Nintendo systems pure, though. XD

OK, it's time for some clarification. There seems to be some sort of confusion about this, and it's not just within our community; it's Internet-wide. From the answer to the question I've asked above, I've underlined exactly how this works, as explained by Rebecca. The "app" itself is not to be confused with application. I'll admit, at first, I thought there was going to be some kind of download in the eShop for this service, but there's not. In this case, let's refer to the "app" as the "service."

This service has absolutely nothing to do with Nintendo. It is launched completely via the Wii U Browser. I mean, anyone could surf porn right this instant using the Wii U web Browser. Basically, as mentioned above, the SugarDVD website will be accessed via the Wii U web Browser. Once that site is up, the service will be able to launch from within the Browser.

I hope this makes sense. Like I said, initially, I wasn't exactly sure how this worked so that's why I took the initiative to contact someone from that company to get the interview to clarify the points.

I lol'd so hard at that.

And yeah there has been discussion about it and how anyone could just browse using the Wii U browser and look at porn anyways. I guess it's just a video compatability issue with different browsers and different systems. Such as last night I wanted to stream a movie on my iPad that wasn't on Netflix but I could not get the plug in needed to stream it.

Guess what SugarDVD is trying to do is make it so that you don't need any plugins and that it will just work right as is from the browser no matter what browser you are using.

It would be nice if a system had ways to block that though, but considering that you need an account which would require a credit card and you'd have to know about it then I doubt there really is any need for concern.
Better clean off your control pad before your guests arrive hehe.
