Wii Street U, powered by Google.

In early December, we published extensive information as detailed from the December 5th Nintendo Direct. One of the more innovative concepts revealed was that Nintendo have been developing an eShop application that uses Google Maps with Google Street View to virtually explore any place in the world. During the Nintendo Direct presentation, it was announced that the application would be released in the "first quarter of 2013."

Today, during a financial results meeting in Tokyo, Nintendo revealed the official name of this application: Wii Street U. The application is headed to Japan next month in mid-February.

Even though this is not yet in the United States I am glad to see it finally coming out. I am curious about it myself.
I'm sure this will be pretty cool, but I don't know if I can match the amount of enthusiasm the dad in the commercial has.

He has to support two kids, so he doesn't get to travel often. Now he can see the world through the family Wii U. He may also be secretly planning his escape.

That's what I got, anyway! ;P

I also thought the son was like, "This is the most boring thing our family has ever done together. Someone please start playing Nintendo Land before my childhood completely wastes away." He's really dramatic.
