Wii U & GameCube Share Same Birthday

For most, November 18th is just another day at work, an anniversary or the birthday of a family member or friend. For the rest of the world, specifically Nintendo fans, it's a special day that gets indelibly inscribed into memory lane. Nintendo's newest, most innovative home console to date, Wii U, will debut in North America in exactly five days from now on November 18th, 2012. As we all know, this date is roughly one month before massive, cataclysmic events occur on planet Earth.

On December 21st, 2012, random parts of the sky will fall upon us, living poultry will begin serving chicken dinners at fast food restaurants, Elvis will make an exclusive, one-time appearance for a sold-out concert and the Cheetahmen will finally figure out how to progress through an impenetrable stage level. Too bad we won't be able to enjoy titles like Pikmin 3, Bayonetta 2 or Mario Kart U.

In all seriousness, November 18th is not only an important date for family and friends awaiting Wii U, but it's also the same date that the Nintendo GameCube launched. It's true, Nintendo's GameCube launched in North America on Sunday, November 18th, 2001. Let's take a moment to look back 11 years and reflect on the North American titles that launched alongside the GameCube, and the forthcoming titles that will launch with the Wii U.

That is pretty cool. Yeah the Wii U has a better launch lineup than the Gamecube. Now if only Nintendo would reveal Gamecube Virtual console games for the Wii U.
It's so close.  I wonder when I'll break and decide to get one.
Gamecube is one of my favorite Nintendo consoles. So many good games!!
Yes the Wii U launch lineup is really good.
Though i'll admit there are not many games that I actually want to get in the launch lineup.

Sadly, mine is still brand-new, in its box. I know, there's simply no excuse for that. I...have a plan though.
