The news we've all been anticipating has finally arrived. In a recent interview with CNET, President of Nintendo of America, Reggie Fils-Aime has revealed that over 400,000 Wii U units were sold for its first week. In that same week, more than 300,000 Wii units were also purchased. For those who were wondering if Nintendo were just over-hyping their new home console, I think the numbers clearly speak for that matter.

Here's what Reggie had to say regarding Wii U sales last week.

Reggie Fils-Aime said:

Wii U is essentially sold out of retail and we are doing our best to continually replenish stock. Retailers are also doing their best to get the product to store shelves. But as soon as product hits retail, they're selling out immediately.

Those are some pretty impressive figures, wouldn't you say?

Maybe the shortage will help me keep away for longer.  I have a real problem with impulse buying.  I just know if I see it sitting on a shelf, its over.
This is awesome. I hope that the sales keep up.
Awesome! Wii U rules!!!
