A pair of NES classics are coming to a Wii U Virtual Console near you.

This week's Wii U Virtual Console Nintendo Entertainment System (NES) titles were confirmed a few days ago, but didn't yet have a price tag attached to them. We can now confirm that Xevious — a popular late 80's vertical shooter — and Solomon's Key — a challenging single-player puzzler — are headed to the Wii U Virtual Console for $4.99 each.

Xevious was previously released for the Wii Virtual Console on January 15th, 2007. Solomon's Key was also released for the Wii Virtual Console service on November 19th, 2006. If you've already purchased these titles from the Wii Virtual Console service, they can be transferred to your Wii U, where you can play them in Wii Mode at no charge. If you wish to use each game's integrated Miiverse and Wii U functionality, however, you'll need to pay a small upgrade fee. Upgrade fees for NES titles are $1.00 while SNES titles are $1.50.

Will you be purchasing either one of these classic NES titles later this week?

Well I probably will get at least Solomon's Key down the road, just not right now. My funds are geared towards The Denpa Men 2: Beyond the Waves, The Starship Damrey, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages/Seasons... among other things.
Xevious is devious. My friend had the original version growing up. It looked fun, but we always traded off lives. Which basically meant I watched him play and every once in a while I got the controller and immediately died.
