On the first official day of the tourney, we have all chalk except

#12 Middle Tenn over #5 Minny
#11 Xavier over #6 Maryland

less chalk today,  but the upsets were

#11 usc (southern california) over #6 smu
#11 urI over #6 creighton
#10 wichita state over #7 dayton
#9 michigan state over #8 miami

not an upset seeding wise but usc (south carolina) won its first ncaa tourney game in over 40 years
